M1 Carbine Estate Find Q's
I posted this on a couple other boards, but they seemed a bit slow. Found this board and thought I'd ask here!
Was wondering if you guys had any thoughts on this...
I'm not to familiar with carbines.
I picked up a bunch of M1 stuff from an estate recently. Included was one new unassembled Springfield commerical receiver, one new barrel ( I don't know the make ), a bolt, a couple barrel bands, buttplates, spare stock, and two complete carbines.
One of the carbines is an Underwood, and one is an Inland. They both appear to have been completely rebuilt/restored? , and look unfired. They each have what appears to be a correct sling with the oiler.
The catch? They have both been rebarreled in 5.7 MMJ. I did some searching around to learn about the cartridge, and it looks like a pretty neat little round. The package came with a full ammo can ( 1,000 rounds maybe? ) of loaded 5.7 ammo on stripper clips, and maybe a couple hundred more unprimed cases.
Should I try and find a correct barrel for each gun or would you think somebody would be interested in having them in the 5.7 chambering?
