a buddy of mine is selling off his guns. one of em is a springfiled 1903 ser # 300,000. i have a 1903 and don't need a wall hanger. what would be a good price

It's an attractive '03, but, thanks to a number of non-original parts, it has much less value than one of that vintage that's all-original - and little value as a "shooter" because many are reluctant to fire a "low-number" specimen. Depending on bore condition, $250-$350 at retail in the USA would be a good price for the buyer - $500+ would be good for the seller. "Good" kind of depends on whose side you're on.
Looks like a WWI that stayed home. Condition is nice (bore?) and appears cles. A wallhanger, but a nice one. I agree with Parashooter on the price.
Price depends on where you are located and demand. Of course on-line auction sites also come into play. Based on S.Store reports, CMP is sold out of 03/03-A3 rifles so that will certainly affect prices. In my area (S. Ga.) such a rifle with a good barrel would not sell for less than $500 and maybe more. JMHO. Sincerely. BruceV.
