to get even
use the pointed end of the operating spring guide to depress and then shove up in with your thumb, works as good thumb toughener as you will find you are one hand short
I've tried that about 49 times. The op spring guide is in the hole so the slide stop can't get by it.
Maybe it takes 50 tries, I'll see.
After the 51st try i think i would get someone else to look at it, some times a diff. set of eye's help's. Sound's like your making the same mistake over and over, Don't be to proud to ask for help, I ask for help all the time, But then i have no pride. Good luck:madsmile:.

When compressing the spring and pushing on the slide stop pin, all you need is the top tip of the slide stop pin to hold the spring in why you back the punch out. Then tap the slide stop pin with a plastic hammer all the way in, work the pin back and forth a few time to make sure it works ok.

Make sure you don`t have the extractor spring in the slide. The slide stop spring is not as hard to compress as the extractor spring.

I use a small leather punch like you find on a pocket knife, curved on one side and flat on the other. push the spring down inserting the punch from the top and compress the spring. Then push the slide stop in while holding the spring compressed using the stop to push the punch out of the way. It seems to work pretty well for me.
