Need opinions on value.

In this area $800-900 would seem fair. Looks like a decent rifle! S/N matches cartouche date.

Looks very similar to mine and I paid 775. Sharp looking rifle.

Check what Krags are priced on oldguns.net. I see them listed for $1200. I have a 1898 original Krag (Krag vendor at Chantilly verified it) that I had an $800 tag on it at a gunshow. I was informed by the facilitator to raise the price. $800 is the bare minimum I would put on your Krag; I'd start at $1K. Your Krag looks to be in above average condition.

Today my buddy told me that the owner bought this gun a few months ago for $100. I kinda new that it was worth at least $500+.
Thanks gents for the info!

Thats a $750 gun to me, plus $100 for the sling if it has any mfgers markings left. The stock has been lightly sanded and oiled, and the blueing on the barrel and rear sight is below average for an 1898 rifle made in 1899. Thats the correct sling for a 1903 Springfield, not a Krag.
Given equivalent condition, 1896 krags are more valuable than 1898 rifles, although yours is fairly early (1898s start in the 120,000s and run up to the high 400,000's in serial number if I recall)

That sight is a model 1902 so it was replaced. Pretty common to find them upgraded. I would give $100 for it no problem probably a $700 to $750 around here.
