Cavalry Model

:dancingbanana: Saw a 1873 Cavalry Model this week-end,very interesting. The ser# is 132029, it had the sling mount w/ring on left side. In the butt stock was a complete cleaning rod. Cartouche was visible on left side, but stock needed a good cleaning, so you could see it completely. Proof P to rear of triggerguard. Left side of barrel at receiver was a V, P, Eaglehead, small p. To the right of small p, at top of barrel was a #9. On the buttplate where top screw is was stamped U.S., above a small "a", above a small "34". Patina is about 50% or so. Muzzle crown is what I call oval(keyholed). Sorry, didn't have a camera, so no pics. So what can anyone tell me about this fine piece of history.

A carbine that sr# would put in 1880. they made 9,830 carbines that year. in 1879 they made 0.
Dont know what you mean [muzzle crown is oval/keyholed?]

Im not a trapdoor expert, just have owned a few over the year's.
