Good or bad, I am trying to turn 1917 Enfield into a .300 Win mag. Has anyone had experience in what changes are needed to the follower, action side rails or feed ramp to get the new cartriage to feed? thank you

side rails, follower, and bolt face. will only hold 3 rounds without jamming.
you can shive more in, but it will bind up.
I converted one to .300 Weatherby many years ago. Everything Chuck said above is correct. I did replace the follower with a "magnum" Model 70 follower and in my case the magazine box had to be lengthened. The rifle shot great for many years, but the Weatherby eventually ate the throat up on the 1918 barrel and the accuracy suffered. I'll change the barrel someday. The '17 Enfield is perfect for belted magnum conversions.
thanks for the verification. walnutnut
Use a p14 bolt, bolt is catered for the .303 rim which is .540" 300 win mag .532". Am thinking of the same but with .338 ultra mag. Have got boxes of p14 bolts if anyone needs spares.
the P14 extarctor wont work with a magnum case head.
Wont the bolt head be ok with a P17 extracter
