I visited her in april and it was pouring at the time!!
I've visited the Mighty Mo as well as the North Carolina. Both were an awesome and humbling experience. We could go inside the big gun turrets and magazines........very claustrophobic while needing a big team effort to effect firing the big guns.
Especially when #1 son is recieving his Eagle Scout awards.Quote:

Love visiting ships. Been to the New Jersy, Olympia, Massachuetts(sp),Texas,Lexington,Constitution as well several subs and destoryers.
I find it fasinanting to tour the ships of different eras and see how they evolved.
That is a beautiful, majestic ship! I've been aboard the USS Massachusetts and the sub and destroyer docked at the same location. I wish the USS Wisconsin could have been brought to the Great Lakes and berthed in either Superior or somewhere along the Lake Michigan shoreline. Carl
Yep, agreed. I'm making a bike putt down to the Houston area Friday. I'm thinking to take a couple hours to swing down to the Texas. She's a real 'another era' ship.Quote:
