Scope ID?

Does anyone recognize an old looking scope called a CAD? A leather case it is in is dated 1916 with J B Brookes and co on it, but may not be a match. thanks R

Does it say anything else on the scope? Any mounts? To what range is the range drum graduated? I just wondered if you might have a German WW2 scope, as 'cad' was the Nazi factory code for the Kahles factory in Vienna.

Ahh, thank you, you may be right as the scope has bell shapes at both ends which is a little unusual for WW1.
The scope is advertised so I don't have the details, I'm asking questions of the owner, but he's not enough of a gun owner to know a lot.

Early Kahles scopes did have belled oculars and objectives. With a gunsmith's name on the tube(?) you should be able to find out where they were located and deduce from that whether it was fitted for military or sporting purposes. The case may be from a different and military contract scope and as such would have considerable value itself.
