folding stock....fake or good??
-
Andy, There is a cap,a second screw and a lock washer that goes on the butt of the hand grip which yours is missing. Other then that it's a nice original M1A1 stock. hth
-
I could be wrong but from what I can see it looks good to me.The folding buttplate seems right as does the over all contours of the stock itself, the relief for the buttplate looks correct as does the leather and rivits on the cheekpiece. I have a Italian repro and there are a LOT of differences compared to the one you have pictured. Like I said, Im no expert on origional M1A1 stocks but from judging the examples Ive seen even the makers marks look good as does the overall appearance and condition of it. I wish it were mine thats for sure !!!
Im sure that you will get replies from a lot of folks that are more knowlegeable than I am on these, I sure do like it though!
PS...... My birthday was June 7th... hint hint hint:D

perfect guys
thanks
Bruce
the cap and screw was removed to see the marks on pistol grips, but i have it

i concur on the wood, leather, rivits, and buttplate: they look authentic!
the only thing catching my eye as "off" is the bottom portion of the wire stock: it looks like it's atleast been repaired, but could also be the yellow brazing that is commonly seen on fake stocks. looks more like a repair to me, though, because of it's size.

well,
i think the wire stock was broked, and welded
i think the same for the upper portion of the recoil plate... isnt it?
i have a wra m1 carbine..
now i wish to find a inland to match this stock..
any idea about the range of serial number for this stock?
it should be a high wood stock, am i right?
