Both my IBM and WRA carbines are shooting high at 25 yards...very high, about 8", even with the rear sight all the way down. Is this normal? Is there a decent way to correct? Should I leave it alone? Should the front blade be replaced with something higher? Suggestions, please........:confused:
Personally, even though I do not shoot my carbine regularly since my Army days (way back...), I would sight it in at 100 yds. You might find the results satisfying. I wouldn't mess with your sights until then and after you've given some thought to your sight picture, IMHO....:) Happy shooting.
Hi Bear. Somebody in the past probably filed down the front sight blade. Bottom line is that it is too low. You might be able to build up the sight (usually not very satisfactory) or just replace it. No big deal if the rifle is a mix master like so many are. Grease the barrel in front of the sight before you slide it off. Good Luck..

As Magyar indicates use 100 yards to sight in the Carbine.
I had the same type thing the other day siting in at about 50 yards, and so out to 100 yds and then no problem, and I have to say, my grand son, 11 years, loves to shoot this carbine like you can't believe, what a great gun for him.
You hit it right...All my sons (3) first experience with firing any weapon was the M-1 carbine, not the traditional .22. You always leave the range wishing you had brought more ammo....Quote:
