If the op rod is lightly rubbing the front stock ferrule when the stock is removed, is that a sure sign that the op rod is bent or the ferrule is improperly pinned?
What is the wear pattern on the op-rod showing?
Take the barrel receiver assembly and flip over
from the receiver heal area look down the op-rod
If all is well the gas cylinder, op-rod, and middle band will look centered when referenced to the receiver legs
If not it may give you an idea what is out
As long as the "rub" does not impede the free flow of the op rod it is fine. We have to keep in mind the speed and amount of force produced when the op rod moves under recoil. To think it should not touch anything under recoil is wishful thinking in my eyes.
