Remington Rand Value

Checked a relative's Rem. Rand Model 1911A1. It is near mint condition with 99% finish, original grips, FJA proof on upper left rear of left side trigger guard, S on top right side of trigger guard and H on lower left. Serial number 2439XXX is in the last lot of production in 1945. Did not verify if the finish is original or re-parkerized.

He is thinking about selling and I would be interested in buying it but want to give him a fair price. What would be fair, 1. if with the original finish and 2. if it has been refinished? Any hints of other things to check out would be appreciated.

If it is in fact mint probably around $1500 + Refinished without a arsenal stamp maybe $7-800. With a rebuild stamp maybe $100-200 more in my area. Truman
