bought a very nice K98 on GB a while ago. Finally got around to buying headspace guages (Forster) and the bolt will only close half way on the GO guage. It can be forced closed. This is with the stripped bolt body and the extractor removed. This particular gun is a Yugo capture that looks like it has a nearly new barrel.
I have not fired yet. do I have to have the finish reaming done? can anyone recommend someone I can send it to.

Probably only a 0.001" or two tight unless it took a LOT of force. If you can squeeze the solid steel bit in then hollow brass cases won't be a problem unless you intend it for something or than target/range use. The only drama that might pose a safety risk is having the neck too short so that the case mouth would clamp down around the bullet, raising pressure. Most military chambers are a bit long on the neck to allow fot production OAL variances so that scenerio is quite remote. Besides, your gage doesn't even check that dimension.
Basically, if live rounds can be chambered easily don't worry, be happy, you've got a "match" chambered 7.92!
Your ammo will be .003 to .004 shorter than the gauge.
After 500 or 600 rounds your gauge will probably fit fine.
thanks. I asked this question in another forum and the replies I got indicated I should rent a reamer but I think if I'm able to easily close on a round I should be OK. Here I'm going by the typical question of what headspace guages to get. I've seen responses that indicate you don't need the "go" guage, only the field guage. Not needing the "go" being predicated on whether you can close the bolt on a round. I just want to make sure there are no safety issues.
In your case the "go" gage is what you needed. Happy shooting!
