Hi, I've dinged up/squashed the thread on the rear of the trigger guard on a no1mk3 enfield and can't locate the right tap commercially here in Auckland. Can anyone in the UK steer me to a source, or perhaps a kiwi knows of a NZ fix up?
The thread is SAIS ref B-27, .144dia x 37tpi.

Absolutley no chance.
Best bet (at present) is to weld it up and retap to 4BA. Then make a new screw.
Things may change for the better in the future.
If the existing threads that remain aren't TOO hideous there's a couple or three things to try- given you have some sacrificial screws that have messed up heads or some such.
If the hole is mashed a wee bit grind a gentle taper on a screw w/ few few more threads than your average T/G screw and ease it in w/ lots of lube (no wisecracks pul-leez!).
If the threads are dinked only on the one side just run one in from the opposing side!
You can also male a one time use tap by cutting a longitudinal groove through the screw threads, usually w/ a small lead-in taper.
Hardening your cobbled up tap usually isn't required, and if you break it off its LOADS easier to drill out/remove. (I'm guessing no lathes underfoot.) HTH and ain't too obvious.
I'm not at work now so have more time to hunt and peck on a friend's computer (dang slow!!!)
