I have a inland m1 with serial number 500,xxx does anyone know the year plus the barrel has no date on it but it has the inland and GM markings,
plus on the left side of the stock it has a horse shoe shape with two dots on both sides of the horse shoe. any information on this would be great thanks inadvance.

The "horse shoe shape with two dots" mark is a post WWII Underwood rebuild stamp.
I thought Inland barrels were dated?
They were dated, but some of the later ones were hit-and-miss with the dates. I think he has one of these later barrels (from the rebuild) in his Inland, and unfortunately I don't know when 500,000 was made. I'll guess late 1943?
Thanks to everyone for the information. I did not know if some had dates and others did not. I have the paper work from the man I received the m1 from he received the gun from Red River Army depot in texas in 1963 for $ 20.00.

Keep that receipt! A documented rebuild sold through DCM is more valuable than another one just like it without the paper. Hopefully nothing has been done to alter it from rebuild condition. How about a picture?
