Thanks, gunner.
The auction pics were pretty good, but here are some that I took myself. It seems to be in excellent condition. Barrel is marked "E", with the flaming bomb and dated 6-18. Bore gauges just under "1" on the CMP gauge and the metal and wood are in great shape.
Stock appears to have been refinished. Where the manufacturer identification is usually located at the tip ("E","W", or"R") is the number 4.
As a bonus, came with a cleaning kit in the butt trap.

Hi Steve, congrats, your rifle is looking much better than my one. It has a nice wood grain at the buttstock and is hopefuly a good shooter too. At wednesday i go shooting my M 38 with new ammo and think it goes better than the last time. When you go shooting your M1917 then please let me know how good it is.
Best Regards

Thanks, Ulrich.
I'll post a range report when I get a chance to shoot it.
Let us know how the new ammo works in the Swede.

Eh..not that bad, but I have rifles that do better. I probably need to experiment with some other ammo, although most of my other 1917's seem to do well with the heavier bullets

Hi Gunner, I have a collection of various 30.06 ammo, but the ammo that I used to shoot that "group" (if you can call it that) was Federal brand "powershok" 180 grain bullet. It is not bad ammo, but it is a cheaper end of the commercial ammo line. I got it locally for about 9 bucks per box, after rebate.
Federal Premium - Rifle Details
I have shot some pretty nice groups with it in other rifles, such as a sporterized 1903A4, but, as you know, every rifle is different.
Here is a picture of a group that my son shot with the 03A4
https://www.milsurps.com/images/imported/deleted.gif
After a few shots to center the scope, he put three into the center of a 5.5 inch reactive target at 100 yards.
I have some Lapua Medium ball and some US military match ammo that I will try, as well as some CMP 150 grain ammo. I'll report back with the results
Best regards, steve
