I just came across 80 rounds of AP 30:06 in en-bloc clips, headstamp LC 53. The primers are laquered. I have no lot numbers. So, is it corrosive, or no? My only Garand is a beautiful and very nearly new Type II NM, and I just don't care to run corrosive primered ammo through it. thanks for any help!

Why would you want to shoot AP anyway? They don't make the stuff anymore and it's going to be worth more to a collector then to just use as range fodder. Just get some nice 30-06 surplus, before the price goes up and the supply is gone. Stash the AP or sell it. Most people ask $1/round for AP.Quote:

I've had both the early and the later LC. the early stuff was TW43. It was both higher pressure and penetrated alot more. During WWII they used a higher Quality-control over the AP, it was more uniform which made it more accurate and was loaded to around 52-54,000PSI. Wish I still had the TW, it's worth alot now to collectors. I've seen it go for as much as $30.00 an En-Bloc.
I still have two spam cans of M2AP from the St. Louis arsenal. I had a third but shot it up at high power matches. Pretty good stuff, maybe sell to a collector some day.
