Same as KR, just reversed.
Scott
Take a close look at the R...it is an I K mark with an R overstamp. You have a RockOla hammer there.
Yes, it is a I.K. with an R. I guess Rock-Ola need them worse that Inland at the time. A Sub switch. Good find.
Are you sure this ain't one of those California George's parts? You know, those RARE ones he happens to come across?
It's for real. I've got a couple of those that I've had for at least 13 years and they are identical. There were several variations of R overstamps on hammers that were transferred to RockOla from other contractors.
I have had this hammer 20+ years.
Looking in War Baby, knowing all books have errors or need updates, it doesn't show Rock-Ola getting hammers from Inland.
It does read:
Rock-Ola integrated hammers to others:
To Underwood, 500 on 1-5-43 and 500 on 2-16-43
To Inland, 3,000 on 3-6-43 and 11,500 0n 9-3-43
To SG 5,000 on 6-17-43 and 10,000 on 6-23-43
To NPM 10,000 on 9-13-43
To STD Prods 130 on 1-5-43 and 10,000 on 9-3-43
And only got integrated back to Rock-Ola 8,000 from Underwood on 4-3-44

"other contractors" as 604flyer said does not necessarily mean prime carbine contractors.
Thanks Brian
Just wait, in a short time were going to see these for sale from a certain individual (who inherited a seemingly endless supply of rare and somehow almost unused carbine parts) for sale on Epay.;)
In all seriousness, I find odd marked parts like this fascinating. They add to the fun of buying a "new" carbine and bringing it home, because when you take 'er apart, you never know whats going to be in it, like unwrapping a 60+ yr old present. Finding these little variants in parts is really interesting. Its all a huge puzzle, and from time to time a different piece here and there shows up .Not that I will run across one but if I do I have a better chance of knowing that I have and where it came from:thup:
