Wow! What a great rifle! I can't wait to get it to the range!

I was concerned about the razor knife cuts and when I opened the small box, my heart sank. Razor cuts in the rifle bag and in the bag containing the bolt and rear sight. Both the bolt and rear sight escaped injury (the cut didn't completely penetrate the white bag on the rear sight side). The stock wasn't so lucky. There is a very shallow cut in the stock (hard to see), but it's there. I don't believe it will take much to fix. I really like the figure in the wood. All metal looks great!

Now to clean this puppy up, take the bolt apart for a thorough cleaning, check the action screws, and find the ammo she likes best. Thank you, CMP!

Great looking rifle. Is this one of the CMP rifles, complete with sights? They are a great deal. None authentic without the razor cut!

Yes, it's a CMP rifle. The front sight is in the middle of the plastic bag shown on the lower left. The rear sight is in the white bag in the same plastic bag. I took the bolt apart and thoroughly cleaned it today. There was the start of some corrosion. Cleaned up the rest and mounted a scope. Hope to get out tomorrow to shoot it.

You should be pleasently surprised. Bought one for my daughter and it shoots up a storm. I had to make the trigger pull a bit lighter for her , but she does very well with it. It likes the agulia match rifle , Wolf match and match extra the best. Hers has a minor scratch as well on the stock.

I would have loved to go for the full 25, but I was hot, tired, and just ran out of iced tea. CCI Green Tag and Aguila Match Rifle didn't do as well. Wolf Match Extra produced many 5 shot, one hole groups. I still have about 10 other ammo kinds to test (all subsonic).

This is the first .22 target rifle I've shot since my junior rifle team days in 1957-59. I shot left handed then (because of my eyes), but shoot right handed now. Back then they didn't have a left handed shooting coat, so I had to use a right handed one. Never could crack the top ten nationally, but managed some top five finishes in Pennsylvania. Too bad I don't know what kind of rifles we used. They were heavy barrels (like the Kimber). Today brought back many fond memories. :clap:

The Mossberg M44US I got from the CMP for 100 bucks outshoots the Kymbers at the smallbore matches I go to. The bolt on the Kymbers does not lock up tight. You can feel it at the last second when working the bolt.

My old CMP Mossberg does not seem to care which ammo it digests. There are no razor blade cuts anywhere to be seen. I may be foolish, but I would not buy a rifle that had razor blade cuts on it unless it shot Xs by itself, certainly not for almost a grand.

I have never been a fan of a firearm company who makes firearms and claim to be the best, yet boast their guns can swap parts with a pistol designed by some old fart, almost a century ago. Thats not something new. Its an overpriced copy. Just my 4 cents. Adjusted for inflation of course.

I bought three of the "used" Kimber 82G's for $150 each. Stocks were VERY nasty looking, but were BEAUTIFUL when refinished. Have only had a chance to put scope on one, and it shoots like a house-afire. Targets below were shot leaning on a post, not a rest, and I could have done better on a rest. Ammo was Federal AutoMatch.
