It seems to like the Hollow point Wolf for some reason. I also fired some Federals that were designed for hunting with a soft lead point. They printed about the same. Rifle is still stiff but getting better.
I did fire 10 rounds in rapid fire and no problems.....

Are you using the laquer coated Wolf cases, or the Wolf Gold boxer primed brass? If using the military-type Wolf, have you experienced any difficulty upon extraction?
The chamber in my 7.62x39 bolt gun is on the tight side. If using the coated cases, the laquer tends to 'glue' the case into the chamber. I then have to hit the bolt open rather harshly to open the action.
No such problems with brass cases, either factory or reloads. Then it runs as smooth as silk.
I tried several Wolf brands and yes, the one Wolf case tends to stick. Nothing that I could not get the bolt open. The brass were Federal soft points and they really worked well. Those rounds also printed well at 100 yards.Quote:

Gander Mountain of Erie Pa. just got one more A1A in. Chambered for 7.62X39.
This one has a straight SMLE stock and that appears to be a little better if one wants to use the flip sight.
I think I found a decent 'yote load over the weekend.

The load showed explosive on jugs of water. The jacket peeled back and most of the lead core penetrated through.
Nice clean holes showing plenty of expansion on harder targets such as old LP tanks, yet the oversized exit hole looked concentric without signs of tumbling. Recovered bullets showed a nice mushroom effect. Accurate too!
Head shots on that marauding pack of coyotes should be no problem now!
Keep in mind that my rifle has a 308 bore on a 98k action, so YMMV.
Also, I consider 16 gr of 2400 a top end charge. I bumped it up there only to see if I could eek out a slightly more violent impact. 15 gr would be a good starting point IMO, but I'm no expert.
I was under the impression the 7.62 x 39 aka the AK47 used a 310,311 sized projectiles. So what is your wildcat called using 308 projectiles

So you need to be more than a little carefull you do not put a 7.62x39 in the chamber [ reloads only] or is that a common loading in the USA with your love of 30 cal
7.62 = 30 caliber/.308 in Americanese, so you'll find both. Not a wildcat here in the States. Just a matter of knowing your rifle.
Several of the domestic loadings here are using 308 bullets from the factory. Remington UMC loads are all 308 dia.. I used a 308 barrel when building up my rifle to take advantage of the many more bullets available for reloading.
I believe Ruger uses 308 barrels on their rifles? I might be mistaken but I know somebody does.
I have fired the larger bullet diameter Chinese and Russian 7.62x39 through mine with no ill effect, but I wouldn't insist others do the same.
Lee Precision now ships their reloading dies with both 310 and 308 expander plugs, so the 308 is pretty common here.
Ruger's mini30 thing used a 0.308" bore but had a long throat "to reduce chamber pressures" w/ larger projectiles. Like the mini14 thing your average buried in a rice paddy AK is more accurate (but not nearly as sleek).
