I have a Feinwerkbau 124 .177 air rifle with multiple front sight inserts and micrometer rear sight in excellent shape. Any idea of its value? I bought it circa 1885. I've tried the FWB website but no luck in locating this exact rifle.

assuming it is OK internally (they have a leather seal, so a Chronograph reading of 11-12FPE would let you know for sure) and excellent means the rifle has no rust issues and finish (wood and metal) is 95%+, and this is a STANDARD and not a deluxe 124, then 350-450 would be about right. If you have the box and/or other factory accessories, add a bit more.

tmark, if you bought this rifle at 1885 as you wrote, then will you and your rifle get an good place in guinnes book and i am very proud to know the world oldest man :-). Just a joke. Here you can get one around 60 - 80 Euros.

Gunner, I stand corrected! 1985 is what I meant. I need not make myself older than I am; time is taking care of that for me. I DO appreciate your levity. The closest I'll ever come to guinnes is the beer and not the book!

Took another look at it. Rifle is FWB 124 Sport Ca imported by Beeman, Inc.
I estimate metal to be 99% and wood at 98%. It has a Williams rear target peep sight with asthmus and elevation adjustments.
The airgun website you gave me is excellent. I bookmarked it. Thank you for your much needed help and the excellent resource website.
I don't have a device to measure the chronographs. I haven't fired it in decades so I'll lube it with the special oil I bought along with it and fire it to get the leather seals in shape. Thanks for your help, my friend.

Mark, remember that you only use 2-3 SMALL drops of the chamber oil and obviously you never dry fire the rifle (instant ruination potential). You can partially (or fully) move the cocking arm up and down to spread the lube. I would even leave it overnight, then shoot it with a pellet. You may even get a couple shots that will "detonate" the lube (bang) no big deal unless you overlube. Shoot the rifle into an old phone book. An inch or so penetration should be about right as far as power goes. rough estimate anyway. . gpod luck.

European Airgun prices are pretty comparable (if not higher) than US. Are you sure of this valuation? Because if you are, you could sell EVERY single one you could possibly scarf up in Euroland for 7X this much@!Quote:

For older ones you have to pay these price range, sometimes more sometimes less. It depends on the maker and the model. I only can speak for my region and at the local gunsmith you can have used air rifles in max. up to 100€. The market isn´t very big only the match air rifles has a greater market and price. You have to pay for good ones up to 1200€. The most peoples that shoot not in a gun club with air rifles do only plinking and they buy new ones with cheap scopes mounted for around 250€ chinese made and around 450€ german or italian made ones. I had a FWB "Weitschuss-Luftgewehr " that means a stronger one, that sound like a .22 and i sold it for 60€ after a long time waiting for an customer. So that sounds like a good trade buy this rifles here and have this profit.

I enjoyed the Air Gun Report website. Thank you for taking time to send it. I am sure of the evaluation of my FWB 124 metal and wood. I saw about 3 very small ding in the wood, about the size of a period (eg: .) that you would see at the end of a sentence. My stock has a checkered pistol grip, a cheekpiece, and rubber recoil pad.Quote:
