1911A1 Barrel Question

All, I am new to this site but it seems that there are some very knowledgable people on there that can answer this question for me. About a month ago i bought a 1911a1 made in 1943 with a serial number 11252XX. It is by far the nicest 1911 i have ever laid my hands on. I paid $1800 for it and think i did pretty good. The only problem with the pistol is that it would seem that it has a repro or aftermarket barrel that has no marking except COLT .45 AUTO at about the 12:00 position on the barrel...absolutely NO other markings. The rest of the pistol i would rate at about 99.99% and does not seem to have ever been shot. It came in a D-day bag that is very rare and the guy i bought it from said he bought and estate of firearms and this was one of the collection. I am almost certain that this gun has the original finish because you can still see the hardening marks on the front of the slide and at the slide catch. The numbers under the firing pin plate also match the frame so they match. There are absolutely no wear marks on the frame or the hammer anywhere, which is amazing. I have researched this pistol for hours but am not finding anything about this barrel. Is there any way that it could be original like the rest of the pistol? It would be strange to have a pistol as mint as this one have everything match accept the barrel. What gives??? any help with this CSI investigation would be appreciated.

Probably not. Sounds like a replacement barrel post 1970s. Corrosive ammo took their toll on the original barrels. Humpers will slap any parts together to make a buck. Sounds like a nice pistol otherwise. How about some pictures?

The biggest question that i have is that there are ABSOLUTELY No i mean NO wear marks on this pistol. not in the grooves of the slide, not on the hammer, not on the frame, not ANYWHERE!!! but i have this barrel that does not seem to match any mil spec identification. Such an awesome pistol with an aftermarket barrel. what gives??? If by chance this is a fake someone had to know what they are doing. the numbers match on the slide and frame, cartouches are there and all inspection marks are present on the rear of the frame, left and right of the frame, proof marks are present and all parkerization seems to be present as required. I am thinking of selling this pistol because i want one that i can shoot without ruining the value. Should i buy a barrel that matches a mint 1943 pistol? I bought a gun to shoot and thought i got a good deal but after some research i think i would be stupid to shoot this one.

Can you describe the barrel? Is it all-blued or does it have the chamber hood polished? If your pistol is a Colt the barrel would be all black with Colt .45 Auto at the 7:00 position looking into the chamber. The barrel you describe sounds like a Colt Government Model barrel from the '50s up to the Series 70. I'd have to see a good picture of the barrel hood. I share your puzzlement at how a perfect pistol could have the wrong barrel, but the gun has been in civilian hands for a long time, and there's no telling what may have happened to it over the years.
