Bolt Pawls..Will someone supply them?
It seems that there is considerable demand for replacement bolt pawls among our Carbine community.(I need at least one now) Normally in our free enterprise system, demand for a service or product is often met by someone who provides it. To grab some numbers, I am guessing that there are at least 150,000 to maybe 250,000 M1 Carbines out there. Just a guess and probably way too low. On to my point. If the 250,000 number is anywhere near close, then how many of those owners already have a bolt tool? No way to know but perhaps 1/3rd of them or about 83,000?? It is reasonable to assume that most of these owners would buy a spare pawl or two if the price was right. To manufacture a good sturdy replacement pawl would not be easy. Perhaps some of you engineers could comment. Would seem to me that once set up with heat treating, proper jigs for rough and final machining, etc they could be cranked out in large numbers. Vital questions are: Is there truly a market existing to support the set up cost? Could they be manufactured at a cost low enough to make it feasible? (Would have to be well below $50.00 each I think.) [U]Would the first sales be a "one time only" sale?
Anyway, it is something to ponder and wish for on a sleep Sunday morning.
Who is ready to "tool up" and start turning them out?

More thoughts about Bolt Pawls...
Quite true Bruce. I suspect the commercial manufacturer(s) of the Bolt Tools are not selling replacements Pawls (not to my knowledge) since they would much prefer to sell the entire tool for more money. Like many of you all, I gave up on the commercial tools and stay with USGI made ONLY. I wish the commercial manufacturer could improve on the quality of their tools. I suspect the type of steel and perhaps the heat treating is simply inferior to the USGI tools. Since Bill won't sell any of his spares, guess we will just have to buy an extra USGI tool and continue to wish. Don't blame you Bill, that package must be really rare.
Well, we old folks can wish and remember...all for free.. LOL..
