Early 1903 opinions please

This is a typical war time rebuild. My brother got a hold of it 40+ years ago and hand rubbed 20 or so coats of Johnson's past wax to it. My dad gave it to me just before he passed. He claims it was a gift from his mother-in-law and that it was my grandfather's during WWI. Well, take the gun not the story!:( This rifle has a 12-42 barrel on it. Dad was an ordnance officer around that time. :confused: :dunno: I'm just sayin'!

Opinions on it please. It is a beautiful rifle! Also, not that I would ever sell it, what would a fair value be for a rifle like this? Thanks

The rifle is a conglomeration of assorted parts, mostly from the WWII period. The CMP sells rifles like that for $350. Your rifle, however, is in a bit better condition than the typical CMP rifle. So it might fetch $500-$600. The rifle is a low number, which is generally considered unsafe for shooting.

Nice looking rifle. I had the chance to buy an 1903A3 but here they are a little crazy. For rifles with parts of each maker and rebuild stocks wich have a tendency to crack ( the wood was not long enough stored ) the dealers want to have around €1200 that is $1725. A way too much.
