Jim Hill's Service Rifle Basics Video - Question!

I just bought Jim Hill's excellent video on shooting the service rifle to send to my nephew who is a Marine 2LT. I think Mr. Hill makes some great teaching points that can help anyone although he is shooting the M-1A. One point. When he fires the M-1A there seems to be an audible click, then the sound of the round firing. Time after time, it sounds just like a hangfire. Just a technical artifact caused in the sound recording, right?

Can anyone recommend a similar video with pointers on traditional KD shooting, specifically with the AR-15/M-16? I bought it out of a catalog and the illustration that went with it wasn't even of this DVD.

If recorded on tape there is a thing called print through. This may be obsolete info now but a loud noise on the tape will print onto the layer of tape below it on the reel and be audible if not too much sound would otherwise be there. It is of course there when other formats are created from the tape master.

The microphone is overwelmed by the energy of the shot. It's membrane is smacked to it's maximum and only a click is registered. However, the sound of the reflected shock wave traveling down range is with it's ability to reproduce. It is difficult to record gunshots up close.

Ditto on the USAMU dvd's. I also have Jim's VHS tape. It is very good. The WWII training dvd's that I bought from Champion shooters supply was very good also, if not only for the nostaliga. If they ever find the missing chapter for that old WWII flick, it'll be great.

I think Jim Hill owned Creedmoor at that time didn't he?
