I have four varieties of experimental stocks and hand guards and all front and rear hand guards are one piece.
Those brown sets you see floating around with two separate hand guards were commercially made about 4-5 years ago and imported from Korea. They are not US GI.
Here is a matched set. All have unique lower bands and stock screws.

It is amusing to see some people selling the commercial fantasy items as "Garand Experimental Stock Sets".
