You don't run across them every day but $90 is a bit steep. The last one I bought cost me $30.
The Australian ones are rather more common than the English, so it depends on whether you need one and for which rifle. (The trigger guard plate should have a relieved area to accomodate the rivet on the mag.)
Is this one a Lithgow? I wasn't sure if that was a star with an A in it on the follower. too dim for my eyes.Quote:

Wow, nice pictures! I like the early Mk VI rounds in the No 2 magazine. I got a CLLE the other day that still had the older rear sight calibrated to 1800 yards, the older feed ramp that wasn't grooved out for the Mk VII ammo and a No. 2 magazine with the same initials of VSM stamped into it that were put on the rifle upon it's conversion to CLLE at Vickers. All meant for the older Mk VI rounds that you've displayed in your photo's. Are these rounds particularly difficult to find at collector shows? How much can I expect to pay for any? Fred
Difficult to find at the gun shows, cartridge collectors are better but you will pay alot more ! There are some Mark 11 rounds in the photo too they are Kynoch and cordite. Any black powder loadings of 303 cartridges are very
expensive to find from the collectors.
The reason I was thinking about buying the no 3 magazine was because the magazine that came in one of my CLLE's is a No 4 type. The rifle had been modified to accept Mk VII ammo because it has the gooved feed ramp & the rear sight is graduated to 1900 yards with a sight notch at the top of the ladder for 2000 yards. Although the rifle ws no doubt used in WW I and aquired the type 4 magazine then, I wonder if I should get the type 3 magazine that would also go with the Mk VII ammo as well as Mk VI ? The magazine well is certainly notched on the right side for the riveted lip. So Should I keep the type 4 magazine or put out 90 to 100 bucks for the type 3?. If it's a Lithgow magazine, it wouldn't be perfectly correct for the Enfield made rifle, but does that matter? Fred
