I was talking to a friend and he mentioned that he got a low number RI in his store. He described it as a 1907 serial number with a avis 1918 barrel a RI stock and straight handle type bolt. the stock has WW1 and WW11 rebuild stamps he said it has the original blue I doubt this with a avis barrel and rebuild stamps. It is probably the WW1 type black park. I was going to come by the store and look at it but he wants 750 even if it is a nice and correct WW1 rebuild isn't 750 a little high
I looked at this 03 about an hour ago it appears that the receiver is original blue the inside of the receiver where the bolt rides and around the chamber is worn away and shinny. is seems vary clean would they have rebarreled the rifle in 1918 and not reparked the whole GUN? also the other thing that really interests me is the stamps on the stock one is the standard BA for Bacinda but the other is a capital PODD in a rectangular box. would that be Pannama or the P.I.
The BA is Benecia Arsenal in California; the PODD is the Philippine Ordnance Depot. Panama had a PaOD.
$750 is not high if the rifle is in nice clean condition with sharp markings, a good bore, and good finish, especially some blue.Quote:

Overhaul methods varied between arsenals and branch of service. Some did indeed re-barrel without refinishing (parkerizing). "POD D" is the overhaul inspection stamp of the Phillipines Ordnance Depot, Inspector "D" (last initial).Quote:

$750 is not a bad price especially if it is in good condition and POD D marked. I also have a POD D low number RIA with an AV 12-18 barrel.
