Help with drawing number

Hi guys I need your help. At the Phoenix gun show this last weekend I picked up another Garand. Receiver is a Springfield armory serial number 54510xx and the barrel is marked springfield with a date of 11-54 my question is the drawing number on the receiver. It is F652891. According to Poyer and Riesch's book it should read D65281-43. I've looked and looked but it just doesn't look welded. Looks like original finish as well. Could this be correct? Rest of rifle is the typical mix of ww2 parts and a Danish beech stock. I appreciate the help. Clay

Jay,

The Poyer and Riesch book should be used it to start a BBQ fire. You trusted that book to help you and it did not but it's not your fault, it's the authors incompetence. Your drawing number is correct and is typical for that serial range.

Buy the Scott Duff series of books and use them instead.

thanks for the info I was getting nervous lol oh and I ordered the Duff book on Amazon an hour ago.
