New, to me, M1903 Colt Part 2

So I removed the pearl grips from the pistol and under each one was a plate filling in the opening of the frame. I guess they are there to support the brittle pearl and they each had 3 small ins sticking up to orient the pearl grips correctly. I popped them out an this is what I found on the inside of one of them;

What do you make of this? Something Y. G. Rhodes is obvious,
nd usually only works with 2 so probaly 2nd Lieutenant. I have no idea what R.C. means (Royal Canadian?). And then 42 nd or 4x2nd Infantry. The groove was milled to clear the trigger so these predate them being used in the pistol. Dog tags?

Very interesting find! Not sure what to do with it, but it certainly adds character to the pistol!

Of course this could have just been a scrap piece of metal the gun smith that changed the grips had laying around

Looks like someone ruined a nice piece of history for no reason. The pearl grips didn't break because they were not supported in the frame cutouts, as they virtually always broke from either over tightening the grip screw, or being dropped.

I tried NARA AAD for Ray G Rhodes without a hit and also G Rhodes but nothing obvious came up. L.T.R.C. possibly one term; LT. would be the correct abbreviation for Lieutenant. Last line possibly 4th Bn 2nd INF Rgt but that's just a guess. Interesting item.

I sent away to Colt for a factory letter on this, and it arrived today

I am guessing; this would have been a special order? Does type of stock not listed mean no stocks or just the standard?

I tried googling Mr Kashner, but I only found a William C. Kashner as a Purdue allumni now deceased. No hits on NARA AAD either. Not sure what to do with the info, but interesting.
