New, to me, M1903 Colt Part 2
So I removed the pearl grips from the pistol and under each one was a plate filling in the opening of the frame. I guess they are there to support the brittle pearl and they each had 3 small ins sticking up to orient the pearl grips correctly. I popped them out an this is what I found on the inside of one of them;

What do you make of this? Something Y. G. Rhodes is obvious,
nd usually only works with 2 so probaly 2nd Lieutenant. I have no idea what R.C. means (Royal Canadian?). And then 42 nd or 4x2nd Infantry. The groove was milled to clear the trigger so these predate them being used in the pistol. Dog tags?
