Using cast bullets for carbine?

A friend of mine who reloads has a chance to get some 110 grain cast bullets - Any problem with feeding or any other "trick" to reloading or using with the M1 carbine?

Rick, unless you have one of the rare carbines that hates cast bullets, you should have no problems. Just load them down to velocities between 1400 and 1600 fps and you should be good to go. Don't go higher than that or you'll likely get barrel leading.

I used cast gas check bullets for years with no ill effects and all the accuracy one could ask for. Mine were round nose not pointed.

The best reliability in feeding comes with the use of roundnose, pointed or semipointd bullets. Lee, RCBS, Lyman and Saeco all have at least one mold offering that works fine. If one is duplicating anything near or at standard MV of GI ammo then using a gas check is advisable to avoid leading. A good lube and a slight taper crimp are also recommended. A number of powders work well to give good accuracy. JC

That is exactly what I am looking for. I use LEE molds already. Can you PM me the mold number info or how you ordered? I checked their catalog, and it is not list (as you said, it is custom). They may still have the mill bits for cutting them.
