Great WW2 Carbine pics
First is a favorite, Marines on the beach at Iwo Jima (where my dad served). Of the five marines in the foreground, 4 are armed with M1 carbines, and the fifth you can not see. There is a dropped M1 carbine in the foreground, also.

The second is a tank destroyer crew in France, 1944,

Third is a Ranger at Point du Hoc, June, 1944

One from Korea
Here's a good one from Korea. The GI is oblivious to the fact that he has an incorrect, non-original carbine with undesirable upgrades, that should be restored to WW2 configuration..... Oh. my mistake. It's an M2 that was actually a mainstay of front line troops in that configuration.

Last One
This is the iconic Marine with a carbine picture. BTW, I have it as a super high-res JPG 1.2 meg file, if you want it.

I almost forgot how young we were in the service.
-
Amen
I was almost 22 and smoked a pipe when I enlisted, and was the "Old Man" in my company. Next oldest was 19, with some 17s. I could actually still miss shaving a day or two at a time!

???? What The ?????
Is that one of the non-exsistant leather carbine slings I see there?:yikes:
Chris
-
It sure looks like leather. And since we are talking slings how about the sling the Korean War G.I. has, and the Marine commando's sling. And what about the tank destroyer crewman with the Mauser.....Frank
-
Not only a leather sling but he is a south paw look what side his pouch is on, left

I like the Korean photo from imarangemaster. You don't see the M-8 Grenade Launcher mounted on a carbine very often in old war photos. And looks what is hanging around his neck :super:
