Whats the story M7 Knukel Duster?

Gentlemen, today I was at a larger gun show and met this man with about five m7 knuckle dusters 1 was aluminum handle the other 4 where brass. I have done some research on Google to be only more confused. One guy has one on GB for like $499 I just chuckled the man at the show was asking $85 with the scabbard. It seems that these were not official bayonets for the military as some reports have it. Other reports have them selling for $29-39 in the 80's not sure if that was for the handle or the whole bayonet. Also it seems that some small company in Kentucky made the handle. Observed on the handles of the ones I saw were (M7K). I ask are these things Rare and what material is correct aluminum or brass. The brass seemed to way to heavy for a bayonet in my opinion, the aluminum still had some weight to it but made a very impressive weapon. Would someone please shed some light on this subject for me please? Jeff

As I recall they were either kits or a fantasy type weapon that was produced in the late 70's/early 80's. Definitely not an issue item that I ever saw. SKIP

As far as I know these are commercial items made int he 70's ostensably for vietnam troops bu not offical. I recently got an original from that period, but believe there may be ones made later as well. Mine are aluminium but the brass woudl make it much more effective as a fighter
