Vision Plus scope manual or help

I have a Lee Enfield No.4 Mk.1 with an S&K mount and a Vision Plus 4-12x40 scope. I swear the scope is jinxed. I managed to zero the rifle in so that it was shooting a 1/2" grouping at 100 yards (not bad with 1944 Canadian .303 rounds in 20 degrees F - blooming cold!), but when I turn the windage dial, the elevation dial shifts slightly, and vice versa, even though I have made sure the rifle is exactly upright. Also, the amount of clicks does not seem to correlate with the amount stated on the scope - it gives quite a bit more than the stated 1/4" per click at 100 yards. Does anyone have access to a manual, or has experience with these scopes, and can help me, or should I just bin the scope and get something better and newer (rifle, mount and scope were bought together at a gunshow)?

Sounds pretty typical of a less expensive scope. Pitch it and buy something nicer. Age doesn't have a lot to do w/ the lack of quality in a scope!

It was interesting to see that I was often putting 2 rounds within 1/8" to each other or closer (was shooting groups of 3), then the 3rd round would be off to the right by 1/2" to 1". Could be a combination of a dodgy scope, my shooting technique (non-existent, by the way), shivering (my 68 pattern British combat jacket was VERY useful that morning), 66 year old surplus ammo, 20 degrees F weather (thankfully no wind, but the gun range is in a valley and only gets sun about 1 hour after sunrise - beautiful, but bloody cold!).

I did look at old posts (2006) on this forum regarding the affect temperature has on acuracy, and I may have to do a comparison (Reno can get down to 15 degrees F and up to 105 degrees F). Sheesh, more time at the range....

I don't have a single Enfield that shoots that well! Well, maybe the L42a1 (When I'm shooting well), but it rarely gets exercised that close in. Its usually a 3/4 to 1 MOA rifle, even w/ its weathered muzzle.

I will do a full range report when the weather gets nicer (i..e when my butt doesn't freeze to my chair at the range...), and I will see how tight a grouping I can get with Prvi rounds and my Canadian surplus - will be interesting to compare the 2 rounds :). I will be trying the rifle out again on Friday, hopefully out to 300 yards.

Well, I did get back to the range today, and got some nice 1/2" - 3/4" groupings (even with 1944 Canadian surplus on a 25 degree F day - but no wind, which was nice), but I ran out of windage adjustment on the scope with the rounds still hitting 3" to the left of the bull. The scope mount is an S&K instamount with the S&K rings, which according to the S&K website is windage adjustable, but how exactly do I go about doing this? Any ideas? The scope mount is fitted in pretty tight, so I don't know how I would go about changing windage (big sledgehammer, maybe?). I think the scope internal elevation and windage adjustments are pooped up anyway, so I am going to bin that and get a better one.

On another note, almost had a laughing fit in a local gun store yesterday when I saw a beaten up No.4 Mk.1 with a bent nail keeping the front swivel attached to the band. We can't even Bubba right in Reno...

Before I forget (and slightly off-topic), I did see a 1942 Mosin Nagant M91/30 (recent Century Arms International import) in a local pawn shop for the bargain price of $249.95 - I almost pointed out that they are being sold for $80-100 with all the accessories, but I think I will let them find that out for themselves (think I can talk them down $220?).
