Well, my Winney needs an over haul (broken ejector, safety & cocking piece) and while she was all apart, I noticed my bolt release is marked "R" and "W" and my follower is marked "S" plus by entire bolt assembly in marked with "E" but everything else including the timber is Winchester.
Some Q's...
1. If I was to replace the Eddystone bolt with A Winchester bolt, would headspace be an issue?
2. Why is my bolt release marked Winchester and Remington?

Buy your new bolt from Springfield Sporters. Yes, you must have your headspace checked. No idea about 2 stampings on the bolt release. Sounds like an arsenal rebuild to me.
IF it was an arsenal rebuild, then the present bolt may be a perfectly good fit, and another bolt may turn out to be a worse fit. If the headspace is OK and the rifle shoots well, leave it alone.
As long as you don't start finding bits with WAA stamps or Cyrillic lettering, I wouldn't worry. As has been frequently pointed out, armorers in wartime had better things to do than sort out neatly matching parts for the enjoyment of collectors nearly a century later. After all, the declared aim of the M1917 production was to have interchangeable parts. So they got interchanged.

likely the latch and keeper have different markings..and maybe the ejector as well.
Expanding what Calif-Steve said, I called Springfield Sporters to order a laundry list of small parts. The guy that I dealt with kindly handled my request for each part with a specific manufacturer's mark. In fact he took the order as though it was normal operating procedure. I hung up thinking there was no way I'd receive my order exactly as I requested, but when it showed up in the mail, I certainly did!
I'll call them first with my needs after that! :cheers:

you can fix the ejector yourself, and if done right it will last forever.
YEP, I made my own version of the numrich coil spring ejector. not a problem yet.Quote:
