Can you not just pull one out and measure it?
If you find 'em and tool up to do it right. I would be interested. I am currently making one from a Krieger blank, and cutting the splines for the front sight and bayonet lug on a one-off are a pain. Depending on what you want to accomplish, you may want to re-think the chamber dimensions. I had a match reamer made up, just for 174 gr. MatchKing bullets, to eliminate the horrible freebore and sewer-pipe neck diameter.

You could "google" it. I did that a few months ago, and got the specifications for the no. 4. My project was slightly different.
A previous owner to my no. 4 had damaged the chamber with a drill bit. I can only guess as to the reason why one would do this. A stuck broken case, or maybe a poor mans' attempt at a wildcat cartridge. Any how, it was damaged and needed to be fixed.
I wanted to know what threads were used so that I could re-cut them farther so that I could cut enough of the chamber off so that I could re-chamber it. Incidently the threads are 1" NF-14.
The job was a success, only I didn't chamber it to the .303 British. Just to see if I could do it, it's now a 7.62 x 39. For the purists here, a simple barrel and bolt head change can bring it back to it's former glory.
I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet, but I plan to in the coming weekend.
Cheers all, MK
Let us know how it shoots. I'd love a LE in 7.62x39.
I always thought one would be neat in 30-30. Tweak the mag lips a bit...it should be ok.
Hmm, a 30-30 Enfield. Very interesting idea Jim. It would be cheaper to shoot and everywhere I've ever been that sold ammo had 30-30. A load with spitzer bullets could probably be worked up that would allow the OEM sights to be used w/o mods.
170 gr pointed, or at least a 150. I've already done 150s. Single load in the Winchester but the Savage 340? has a box mag so it works. Brass wouldn't be hard to get in good shape. Ream a tight chamber and it wouldn't stretch. Sounds like a no lose situation. Like OlManDow said the front end would be the pain.
I took the aforementioned No. 4 to the range today. I'm very happy with the results. After the test fire, I took the second shot at a 4" diameter swinger target at 100 yards, and nailed it. Missed it with the next shot, but hit again with the third. That was with the peep sight, and considering my eyesight, I was happy with that.
The ammo I used was the Czech surplus with the FMJ 123 gr. replaced with 125 gr. V-Max bullets. I used the Czech powder. (23 grains)
I need to do some tweeking yet with the ejector (it works well, just marks the cases) and finish the magazine.
All in all, it made a shooter out of a damaged rifle.
Cheers all, MK
