This is a well travelled Navy Colt. It was in the first shipment to the Navy, plus was assigned to the USS DELAWARE and later it was assigned to the USCG!! And best of all, it is still all correct, amazing!!!!!!

All those DEL marked Colts I've seen are refinished. Hard to say when some were re-done. I know when others were.
Some have thought for a while the first Navy pistols did not have the oil blue and fire blue small parts...but they did.
I've seen 3-4 of the first 500 Navy pistols in the 501-1000 serial range that still had their original finish.

I may have seen a couple fire blue early Navy's years ago... before I really knew what I was looking at. I have seen pictures of fire blued USN's from the second USN serial range, and they are truly works of art! Wish mine fared the years better than it did!Quote:
