Value of Scant stock with Drawing number?

Isaw a CMP 1903 rifle high S/N Springfield with a scant stock that was marked with a drawing number Dxxxxx-4 (forget the drawing number istelf).

I only remember hearing of some early garands that may have had their furniture with drawing numbers, but never a Springfield.

Any thoughts about impact to value? It is also marked U just forward of the rear swivel (just aft of drawing number) and 'X' in front of the magazine (on bottom of stock) and the last 4 digits of S/N stamped on the side (Greek return).

I have one for sale on ebay. It has been grooved to allow for a bent bolt. The drawing number is D-35526-4. Will see what the value of that one is in a few days. Its in great shape. Were these stocks post-war rebuilds? I don't know how to post a link yet.

The scant stock you saw was manufactured by a WWII contractor as a spare part for use in overhaul. The stock is original to no rifle except a late WWII overhaul. The stock was not manufactured by Springfield and has little value beyond any other scant stock in similar condition.

Great. Thanks for the info folks. I was just very surprised to see the drawing mark on a wood part, and to have survived for so long in pretty good shape.
