Help identifying year on Springfield Trapdoor rifle serial#229722?

Hello,

I recently purchased a Springfield trapdoor rifle. Unfortunately, it does not have a year stamp anywhere on the rifle. The serial number is 229722. Is that enough to date it? And if not, what should I look for that could help date it?
