hi guys! trouble here in the states need info on a
NO42 MK1 Tel STG 1943 REL
what should i pay for something like this also i looked through it and noticed a either side to side cross hair or up and down but no post , where can i get a mount for this and what should i be looking for at what price ? thank you for any help . Cheers Tony

They were used on artillery pieces. The lenses are good for rebuilding the No. 32 scope. They never were mounted on a rifle. Value? Can't tell you, I dont' have a #32 needing lenses! Google around, this question has been asked and answers by greater minds than mine. hth.
I mounted a variant of the No42, fitted with a No32 graticle arrangement to an adjustable mount and fitted it to my SA80. It was OK but the eye relief was insufficient so I went back to a SUSAT. The only way you can fit one to a rifle is by using a mount that incoroprates range and deflection adjustments as the scope itself doesn't incorporate the mechanism for this.
Don't believe any pictures you see with these '.....as fitted-up by the British stay-behind parties of 1940.....' as these pictures/rifles are the figment of someones vivid imagination. The telescopes weren't made until the era of the Churchill Mk7 and 8 gun tanks which they were fitted to as sights for the BESA machine gun. The reason for the straight line grat pattern is that the BESA fires up and down that line.....supposedly!
The sight with the centre dot was mounted in the BESA cradle, usually on the Armourerd Car and moved with the sight
The only use for them is spare parts for a needy No32Mk1 and 2 or if you haven'y got a No32, then as a fishing weight for deep sea fishing
