Inland gunshow find
I found this at a small local gun show this weekend.
It is a nicer original mid 43 rifle.
Sometime along the line the 300 yrd flip was modified.
I have seen this on a few other original carbines.
The story I have heard is it was easier for sighting at night.

Very nice, I can't quite tell, does the rear sight look like it has been moved to the left?.....Frank

The rear sight is to the left, but the staking marks are right at the right side of the sight.

Very nice and congratulations. I have a Rock-Ola that is believed all original and has the same modification to the rear sight as yours, except on the 150 yd. aperature. This mod creates wings on the rear sight that align with the wings on the front sight and give an uncluttered and centered picture of the front sight post, making for a very fast combat target acquisition. I would be very reluctant to replace as it's part of the carbine's history. After owning for a couple of years, the small letters B AA were found carved/written legibly next to the trigger housing, though difficult to photograph. Thanks for sharing your find. They are still out there.

He had 1000 rnds of LC 43 in boxes also but he wanted 50 a box for the ammo. I would like to get some WWII ammo for display, but I was not sure how much that stuff is worth.

i think a recent carbine club newsletter had an article about chinese made ammo stamped lc 43, it was corrosive

I think if you check, you'll find that was LC52 headstamp that was corrosive Chinese.

Guys, think back a few years on this one. This same carbine was discussed on the old-old Jouster Board. Very nice.

Which carbine are you talking about Bill?
Mine or the rock ola? I found mine at a show that had about 20 tables.
It was so dirty it looked like it sat since WWII.
The grease on the slide was so dry it took over a second for the action to close from the bolt being locked back. I do remember the rockola being talked about before and itbwas the carbine I was talking about in mine original post when I said I had seen others like it. I also remember a few loose flip sights over the last few years being modified like that.
