Smle 1915 .22 Conversion Firing Pin Needed

Hey all you knowlagable chaps (and girls) !
I need a firing pin for a really nice .22 conversion SMLE, dated 1915. It was a grandad to father to son hand down (so goes the story) but many years ago the grandad was safe chap so removed the pin whilst it hung on the wall. The never got to meet again :crying:
The rifle is now on the sons ticket but it doesnt go bang, anyone any idea's where i might find said firing pin?? (Its not under the bed) !
I dont have much info on the rifle only what a saw yesterday so if more is needed i can find out more. THe magazine catches the spent rounds, its single shot.

On the 5th April 2008 at 12:29pm (on the old Jouster forum) "MKVII" posted a dimensioned drawing of the firing pins he had made.

I've kept it in a word document but cannot transfer it across - maybe MKVII can re-post it here ?

Give Numrich (gun parts corp) a try, i recieved a few bolt heads and firing pins off them last year, only thing here is the cost, not of the part, but there is a minimum charge if i remember to ship outside the USA, would be worth getting something else from them up to the value off $100 have a look on there website just google numrich.
I could give you the dimensions from mine or even produce one for you if you want i have a lot of old broken firing pins i can use to produce one would not take long or be too expensive.

PM on the way Alan, Every little helps, can compare dimensions with mine.

If I remember correctly they use tha same pin as is found in the Long Branch CNo.7. Maybe check with Brian Dick.

However from my experience you will need to throw out the 'book' dimensions and make one that gauges to the bolthead that you have.

Looks like i might have a chance of getting this old girl out on the range again !!

I have some 22 cal SMLE firing pins. They are made long on both diameters so they can be adjusted to suit.
