It sounds like suncorite, a very hard oil based paint which is a night mare to remove. Some others may have alternative methods but I find sanding or light sand blasting works well. Its still available in some places but there are newer finishes available which would be easier to use.

I removed it from my No4 MKI* with beadplasting. No damge on the markings and no traces from beadplastingare left. Henkel has suncorite but i dont know if they sell it to privat person.

Don't know about finding suncorite. What if I just sand it, and spray with Hi Temp Grille paint? Maybe rub a coat of Tru Oil or Tung Oil on, after the paint is good and dry. Think the oil coat would make the paint a bit more durable?

there are some other threads in this forum with the same questions. The guys there use a other sort of paint. Try this one: Anyone know a source of suncorite?

Remove it with acetone.
If its Suncorite, all you'll get is a CLEAN chipped up finish. This here's a real "He-Man Woman Hater's Club" finish. (Sorry for the 1930's "Our Gang" reference, but its common lingo around here.)Quote:
