need help with parts identification

I picked up what I believe to be a BSA 1943 No.4MkI I'm a little perplexed at a few parts on this rifle, and figured I should just show the experts. Of particular interest is the trigger guard and the sling. I've never seen a trigger guard EXACTLY like this one, and the sling..well i'm just lost on that. Any markings experts feel freel to fill me in on the pics of the receiver and barrel as well.

The trigger guard is waisted and more common on No.5 Mark 1's

The sling is typical of those found on rifles imported by Century Arms from a block of Lee Enfield rifles purchased from Turkey. The sling is home made from any old piece of leather that they could find - often stitched permanently to the rifle.

Amatikulu, I believe the "wasted" trigger guard in this instance is the "expedient" pressed sheet metal model, used to facilitate the lack of machined/stamped pieces on the assembly lines.
The wasted models on the No5 rifles are either stamped to shape or machined.
The guard/mag well would be correct for the date of the rifle.

I agree with you on the sling though, although it may also be the devilish work of a local bubba.

This rifle was imported by Century. The trigger guard doesn't look like the trigger guards i've seen on No.5 models, its actually not a solid piece of metal...notice the gap in the middle. I am correct its a BSA right? "B" on the barrel also means BSA right?

GregM, The trigger guard assy. is a bent and brazed war expediant part. The 'B' does stand for BSA, but can be found stamped anywhere near the barrel chamber.

Beerhunter and Brad are correct about the war time expedient trigger guard, I need to slow down and look carefully at both what I think I see and what I type :)

The code M47 on the picture of the left butt socket indicates BSA manufacture

The 2nd variation war time expedient trigger guard is made from bar stock and has a brazed trigger ring. The No5 trigger guard is milled.

There are several variations of the 2nd variation guard.
