I purchased a few slings recently as post-war slings, but I believe 2 are late WWII.

They also have blackened brass tips.
When were the aluminum and parkerized steel used? Is there a difference in the weave from war to post-war?
I've never heard or read that aluminum was used during WWII. There is also a khaki colored WWII web sling. Keep in mind that some "late" WWII web slings could in fact be a sling that was later repaired with post-war parts.
Aluminum has been around for a long time. It was used during WWI as well. They made all sorts of things out of it in WWII, mostly aircraft.
Gotcha Bearhunter:thup: I was specifically referring to the hardware used on slings. I thought it was just steel and brass.:cheers:
