I am new to the forum and have some questions about my M1. I have read posts but I am confused as to the originality of my carbine and I thought I would get some help from the experts. Unfortunately, I cannot post pictures today but I will try to get some soon. My carbine has the following markings:
It appears to be a Standard due to the serial number 2155xxx and I can almost see the Standard stamped under the rear sight. The stock has AAP stamped on the left side with a P stamped in front of the handgrip. There is an 8A stamped on the top of the stock and a SCB stamped on the handgrip.
The barrell is an Underwood stamped 12 43 with a symbol below that looks like a circle topped by a flame. On the side of the receiver is a 9E. The rear sight has an H inside of a shield The barrel band is marked AMCO in a right angle stamping. The trigger assembly has an S on the right side and an M or W with SA stamped next to it on the mag release button. Do these markings appear to indicate that the parts are original to the rifle? Sorry for the length of this first post, but I was trying to get in all of the information.
