I don't see a section for this so I"ll post here. Anyone have info on the Webley Mark II. I can find info on the newer Mk's but not much found on the MkII. This is part of my weekend treasure. Anyone know what these are worth? I hope to hell it's worth $200.:madsmile:

Has the cylinder been converted to .45ACP? from the photographs it appears to be a miltary issued MkII upgraded with a later hammer which are normally the MkII* Naval upgrade.
The Pattern for the MkII was sealed on 10th October 1894 & officially approved for service 21st may 1895.
The Naval issued revolvers with the upgraded MkIV hammers were an official change in october 1899 and were re-designated MkII*
The MkII was followed by the MkIII which was approved for service on
27th November 1897
Yes, it's been cut for .45acp and moon clips. The only markings are "Webley Mark II patents" and the British broad arrows.
From what I have read the MKVI could handle the 45ACP, but even at that I don't shoot off the shelf loads in mine, they are reduced. Since the MKII is not as strong as a MKVI I would load my own 45ACP with a light load and be safe. If I remember correctly I am using a 200 gn laser cast with 4 gns of Unique. Will have to check to make sure.
For $200. I would snap it up.
It is rare to see any big bore Webley here in Indiana (converted to .45acp or not) for less than $400. I think that you did just fine!
Hi I have one, with Mk4 Hammer and unmodified. Carried by my Grandfather in Canadian Army WW1. Still a great shooter, has original holster with Brass cleaning rod. I use Fiocchi Ammo in it with no problem, however plan to start re-loading. I would buy it for that price as unmodified worth $ 4 figures. In Canada it does not have to be registered as classed as antique.

In Canada they are considered antiques (not registered handguns) and easily sell $1200+ if in decent shape. Some guys ask $1800, but I don't see them selling at that price.
you did well , im looking at this one and im asking where the upgrades are evident ? it is cut for the 45acp but that is likely an importers blasphemy , id never ever shoot this or any webley with full power -off the shelf 45 acp , it exceeds even the later smokeless designs , download and preserve history and your body
Most fun thing you can do with your (very historic and very collectible, even altered) Mark II is get yourself a big batch of .45 Auto Rim brass and load it up to .455 specs, then head to the range. When you break the gun, you will find that it ejects empties and drops the live rounds back in. Just something to watch.
These are a BALL of fun.... and you're ready the next time those pesky Boers or Matabele start something!
The upgrade with the Mark II mainly was in the hammer nose. The Mark I had a curved, very slender firing pin with a very narrow tip. Not really the thing for thin, brittle caps. Caps got better and firing pins got fatter and all the problems disapeared.
FINE old gun. Worth a TON of money up here; where you are, still worth at least double. It just isn't FAIR to be able to buy that much fun (and history) so cheaply!
