Opinions on this winchester please....

I am wondering what you all think of this rifle. It is available at $650.00. I am specifically wondering about the flip rear sight, the barrel band and the push safety. Are they USGI. Since this gun has some mixed parts, does that mean someone put it together or do you see early feature guns with mixed parts as well. thanks for your help. Also posted on the CMP forum for opinions.

Looks real to me. If the bore gauges out good, it would be worth the price.

The hammer, stock and handguard are not Winchester.

It is a bit rough and I don't care for those initials scratched into the receiver. If you are dead set on it, you need to trim that price if you can.....IMO.

I'd bet it's a partial restoration, but the parts looks good from what I can tell.
The White sewing machine hammer also makes me think someone was trying to restore it and got taken on a hammer. (Common)

Like Wulf, the scratches are distracting to me, but I don't think $650 is a bad price. It's not too far from being restored.

The "E" on the safety looks a little strange to me, almost like an upside down 3.
Forgot to add; the quotes on the left side looks to be a little canted. I will post a picture of a correct one to compare.

Someone here just has to have some ideas on retouching scratch marks on blued or parked surfaces. I know I'm not the one to ask because I've never had any luck with it. Of course, I've only fiddled with Birchwood Casey products. My "touch-ups" always look like just that.
All in all, a probable good deal.....
