1908 Rock Island Stock
I took a chance and bought a early 1903 stock off of an auction. Some of you might have seen it. Anyway, it is marked C.N. in script, with 1908 below it. Script P below grip. Looks like its in good shape. Does have hairline crack 1 inch long behind tang area. I'll try to post pics off the site in a little bit. Satisfy my curiosity and give me a roundabout estimate of value, please. How often do you see these?

Rock Island 1908 stock
Are there any stock bolts ?
-
Not very often - I've been lookng for a RIA 1908/09 CN-marked stock for a long time. Have a correct RIA from that era that is missing a stock.
If you ever have thoughts of disposing of it.... :D

About 5 years ago, I bought a nice early1908, CN marked one that still had the seperate two cuts for the early rear sight sleeve for $350. Figured that was about going price at the time for a correct and unsanded one with a cartouche. I would imagine that price may have gone up a couple hundred by now. Ray,

No stock bolts. Straight profile on both sides. Supposed to be delivered tomorrow. I'll post pics then.
I had a '03 Mark I before, but it is long gone. This stock might be the start of my next '03.
Rick I might be in need of an early R.I. barreled action...
If you ever have thoughts of disposing of yours... :D

Not until I find a LN RIA in original condition!! :D
The rifle I have is RIA 126,399. I bought it about four years ago for a very reasonable price. All original with all original parts (except the upper band, which I located). However, the no bolt stock (and no-sighting groove handguard) had been cut down and sanded, as you can see in the first picture. I managed to find a "stand-in" one bolt RIA stock that had come from a replacement (had a BAWL rebuild/inspection stamp).
I admit finding a no- or one-bolt, correct RIA stock ain't easy!!!

The stock had the correct large "s" on the foretip. In fact it had THREE of them! My theory is that the guy doing the inspecting at Rock Island had too much coffee that day!! :D

Rick Borecky spliced together a '03 handguard "front" to the rear half that came with the rifle, doing his usual excellent job, so the splice is hardly noticeable.
