I have read a couple of the forums people have posted on weapons they have and have found out some of the history of them. I have a 1943, No 4 MK 1, Serial # 41C8409 and is stamped US Property. My dad bought it after returning from Vietnam and I was wanting to find out the history on it if it has any.
Can anybody help.

Also on the subject of Savages, with thanks to Advisory Panel member Lance, there's also a rare "all correct" 1942 No.4 Mk1*(T) Savage Sniper Rifle (less scope) (click here) .....
Lance's article, accompanied by a detailed 165 pic photo montage, speaks to this example as being one of approximately 3,400 Savage rifles converted by Holland and Holland and re-barreled with an Enfield 5 groove barrel, however, it was never fitted with a matching No.32 scope.

You have a No4 MkI* made in Chicopee Falls Massachusetts by Savage-Stevens. Made for the lend-lease program in early 1943 by the serial number, one of 1.2 million produced from 1941-1944. The Savage made No4's are popular with American collectors.
